Torque Limiter Finds Drive Problem During Machine Test

By |2024-02-22T08:38:08-06:00September 4th, 2019|Application Examples|

Installing some type of torque limiting device in your machine system is very often a wise idea. This is especially true where there is human interaction, but it’s also smart to include them in other types of processing equipment. A common objection to designing them into standard machine designs is that they sometimes cost more than the components they are thought to protect. But that’s really a secondary consideration. The prime reason to add them to machine designs is to eliminate the downtime associated with removing damaged components, finding replacements, and installing new ones. [...]

Mount Gearheads Vertically

By |2021-09-10T18:44:14-05:00July 24th, 2019|DieQua News|

Often times we see customers mount servo gearheads like SESAME incorrectly. In many instances, the first reaction is to mount horizontally, but this is not a good practice. It is essential when installing a gearbox, to do it vertically instead of horizontally. This video explains why.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfOF3fve4-k

IEC and NEMA Motors

By |2023-10-31T02:06:49-05:00July 11th, 2019|Application Examples|

IEC vs. NEMA Motors  A large percentage of our customers produce their machinery for both the North American domestic market as well as for the various export markets of Europe, Asia, and South America. This often causes a design issue as power sources are different from market to market. Different motors should be specified to optimize the design, which then alters the gearboxes used with them. Most of our gear products have a solution for that complexity. Here is an example of one of those gearbox products when it came to IEC vs. NEMA [...]

Operate In High Temperature Environment

By |2022-08-18T17:52:25-05:00March 21st, 2019|Application Examples|

Customers often call saying they need a gearbox but tell us the application is secret. It's understandable that privacy can be a concern. But it's equally important that your supplier really knows what is going on. A customer of ours approached us asking for a spiral bevel gearbox that was to be used in a high-temperature environment. They gave us no other information other than the torque required, that all shafts would be mounted horizontal, the speed would be under 100 rpm, and that it had to operate in a high temp environment of [...]

Feeling The Pressure?

By |2024-04-03T07:21:41-05:00February 20th, 2019|Application Examples|

There are a lot of industrial applications for gear products in harsh environments with not a lot of sources for them. Some of those gearbox applications require operating underwater. I’d say that’s pretty harsh. But it’s something we’ve been able to offer in a number of instances. A customer recently approached us with a request for a gearbox to be used in a wastewater treatment plant. We had done other applications for this customer, but this gearbox had to be able to operate underwater. They were designing an agitation system, which in this [...]
